Candles

Candles have been used as an aid for meditation for hundreds of centuries. Before electricity was available for illumination, candles and fires were the only source of  light. Meditation using candles can be used to improve concentration skills or as a warm up exercise for other forms of meditation. The candles used for meditation should ideally be smokeless. Candles with a pleasant aroma will be soothing and help the mind relax.

While are using candles for meditation, you can sit either on the floor, mat or chair, but the flame of  the candle should  be at eye level. If you have a separate room available for meditation, it can be darkened with only the candles for meditation. Stare at the candle flame and think of various daily activities, work which has to completed and other distractions. Eventually these thoughts will fade and you will be left with a clear mind.
 
For candle meditation, focusing on the candle flame is important. After your mind is rid of all thoughts, you will only stare at the candle flame, improving your concentration .
